Verbena bonariensis 'Vanity (VERBDF)' FSN

TypeFirst-year-flowering Perennial

UseBorder - Container - Landscape

Height60 - 80 cm / 25 - 31 in

Flowering seasonJune - October, summer - autumn

109000 - ‘Vanity’ is the first Verbena bonariensis from seed that is both compact and fragrant. ‘Vanity’ produces short sturdy plants with excellent basal branching; shorter than the standard Vervain that we all know.

This adds new possibilities: where the standard Vervain is only suitable in landscaping and wild flower mixtures, ‘Vanity’ can be grown in containers and in borders, also for the smaller gardens. Fragrant in the evenings and early mornings over a long flowering season.

On top of that, the flower colour is of a more intense purple-blue than the standard Vervain.

‘Vanity’ is a perennial (hardy to USDA zones 7-11), but can be grown as an annual and will flower in the first year. ‘Vanity’ is pollinator-friendly and attracts beneficial insects.

Grow in well-drained soil, tolerates full sun to partial shade, keep the soil moist.

AAS National and Fleuroselect Gold Medal Winner 2023.
