Ornamental or deco-cucumbers in all kinds of shapes and colours. The fruits do not look like the usual edible cucumbers and are for ornamental use only. Fruits are used as, or in combination with, small pumpkins in decorations in autumn, fruit plates, flower arrangements etc. Culture is easy, grow on a warm, sheltered site as climber or trailing plant, the average plant spread is 120-180 cm / 47-70 in. Shelf life is excellent; we had fruits for more than a year on a fruit plate, although the shining green colour had faded slightly. Not tasteful, not edible for decoration only

101210 - Ages old varieties of this sikkimensis type are grown as a food crop in mountainous India and Nepal. Fruits are 20 cm / 8 in. large, oblong somewhat oval in shape. Fruit flesh is edible but not very tasteful. Main characteristic is the unique netted fruit skin. When ripe the fruit skin looks like old dark brown crackled leather. Impressive and sure to raise questions. Shelf life of the fruits is not very long. Grow outside like other cucumbers for consumption
